Ask a Recruiter: Job Interview Questions

September 24, 2013

In our first “Ask a Recruiter” video, we answered job seekers’ most pressing resume questions.

This month, we’re discussing the INTERVIEW and we received a lot of great questions!

Congratulations to Brenda, April and Michael! Your questions were selected and answered by Kforce recruiter, Thomas Griffin in our videos.

Question 1: (in video above)

“How do you answer the question ‘why do you think you are a good fit for this position?’ without sounding like a snob or know-it-all?”  - Brenda R.

Question 2:

“Why did you leave your last job?” - April M.

Question 3:

“I never know how to answer those:  Tell me a time…questions. When you have been in the work force for 40+ years, how do you remember a time with a difficult customer, or a time when you gave excellent customer service? Most of those type questions have little to do with my accounting skills and what I can bring to the office. I don’t know how to get through those types of questions without sounding either stupid or forgetful.” - Michael M.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Keep a look out for our next topic – NETWORKING. Perhaps your question will be featured!

The toughest interview questions are "scenario related" stress interviews where employers set up situations for you to respond, but first indicate what you cannot say, which will amount to the full complement of responses a job-seeker would normally have.  What are employers really after in a stress interview and how to respond?
